In 1985, disillusioned by the Political situation in South Africa, Ronny Anderson left for England and went into voluntary exile. In London, he was employed as an international licensing manager at PRT/PYE Records, one of the most prominent record labels in the UK. He was responsible not only for licensing the PYE back catalogue, which included artists such as The Kinks, Sandie Shaw, Petula Clark, The Searchers, Mungo Gerry, The Real Thing, but current distributed artists like David Knopfler (founder of Dire Straits) around the world.

In July 1988, Ronny was headhunted by independent Canadian Record label, Brouhaha to be their A&R Manager, by the founder, Pierre Laurin. Together with in-house producer Colin Thurston and his protégé / Engineer Martin Aelred Colgan, they signed and produced hard Electronica band Westwon, Dennis Seaton (Ex Musical Youth), Philip Japp and the UK Eurovision Entry Live Report in 1989, which charted at no. 79 in the UK Charts, and finished 2nd in the Eurovision contest.

In 1990, Ronny left Brouhaha to establish his own label, Hummdrumm Records, under the umbrella of his distribution company Discovery Sounds whose first signing was independent act UK TAG. This yielded two releases – the vinyl EP entitled Amateurs, and an extended CD single entitled “Examine Me Roughly”. He was headhunted once again in 1994 to join the UK’s largest Dance distributor – Mo’s Music Machine – where he once again headed the International Licensing and Export division.

Ronny continued to work in the UK industry full time until 2008, forming his own Record label and music publishing companies, while developing artists and signing them. Hummdrumm Records laid dormant until 2014, when the Heavy metal band Everafter was signed, and released on CD and digitally. Further acts followed, including The Indigo Rising, Toucan and Martin Aelred Colgan. The label continues to sign, develop and publish a wide variety of acts.

Hummdrumm's First Incarnation

Before the label's resurrection in 2016, Hummdrumm was releasing music as far back as the early nineties. Today, Hummdrumm represents a diverse catalogue of talent, from folk-rock to pop. In it's earliest incarnation, Hummdrumm put out two releases by UK Tag. The first in 1990 was the 'Amateurs' EP and the second was 'Examine Me Roughly' in 1991.
